Display Companies Spend More than a Billion Dollars on Warranty
DATE: 3rd February 2010

Meko Limited, the market research and consultancy specialist for the European electronic display industry, is pleased to announce the appointment of Mr Azhar Mohd-Hashim as warranty and service manager.

Mohd-Hashim brings with him a wealth of industry experience having been involved in the IT industry for 24 years, primarily in the display sector.

Bob Raikes, managing director of Meko, said, "Display companies alone spend more than a billion dollars per year in meeting their warranty and maintenance obligations in Europe. With Azhar's help, we aim to help the industry to reduce its costs and benchmark its performance".

Prior to joining Meko, Mohd-Hashim was European quality manager at Viewsonic, where he managed the quality management system, service and parts processes and reverse logistics.

He has been working in regulatory compliance throughout his career and has implemented several product standards and EU directives at Viewsonic, Capetronic and IBM. This included the introduction of the WEEE, RoHs, REACH, EMC and TCO inititiatives. Mohd-Hashim was part of an IT industry action group on recycling long before WEEE had been thought of. He was also a member of the MPR-II standards committee on low-emission monitors - the pre-cursor of TCO standards.

Mohd-Hashim commented, "Meko is part of an industry which is always looking to find new ways to give their products a competitive edge. Warranty and service do just that, so developing insight into this aspect of the industry is an exciting challenge".
