Nokia and SK Displays to Lead DisplayForum Conference Speakers

Mobile phones touch nearly all our lives, and their influence is set to increase. DisplaySearch forecasts that nearly half a billion mobile phones will be manufactured in 2003, indicating their huge importance both to the European economy and the end user. The leader in the design of these vital communication tools is Nokia, and one of the major components in the design, driving their growth, is the display. Meko and DisplaySearch are therefore delighted to announce that Nokia Mobile Phones and SK Displays, pioneers in new colour display technology will open their conference, DisplayForum 2002.

Mobile Phones are currently one of the highest volume applications for electronic displays and are one of the topics to be discussed at the event, to be held in Nice, France, on 11th-12th December 2002. OLEDs - a new and potentially revolutionary display technology and another hot topic - will be covered in depth, along with monitors, notebooks, PDAs, projectors, large displays, PDPs and LCD TV.

  • Douglas Brands, CEO of Brands Electronics, presenting Web-Based Warranty Tracking and Reporting.
  • Henrik Messel, senior manager of TV Technology at Bang & Olufsen, giving an insight into design and innovation for TVs.

Antti Lääperi has worked for Nokia in Finland since 1988, most recently having had responsibility for Technology Strategy in Nokia Mobile Phones Product Creation and leading their Research and Development Centers. He was also Product Program Manager for the first GSM handportable and second generation communicator. He has a MSc and Licenciate from Helsinki University of Technology.

A sought-after speaker at European high tech events, Leslie Polgar has served as VP-GM of Etec Systems (a unit of Applied Materials), VP-GM of Air Liquide Electronics (Paris), president of Bertram Laboratories (owned by Chemetall GmbH of Frankfurt) and VP of Marketing & Sales of Emcore Corporation.
