Frequently Asked Questions
'Dynamic Focus', which is included in Display Monitor every week, is a small digest of the results of our street pricing surveys, which are part of the DisplayCast service. Prices are taken from major magazines and websites from France, Germany, the UK and the USA.
The prices appear in rotation with one category per issue. There are currently 15 categories of product covered:
LCD monitors (6):
- 15" to 15.3"
- 15.4" to 17.9"
- 19" to 19.9"
- 20" to 20.9"
- 21" to 21.9"
- 22" and above
TVs (9):
- 15" LCD
- 17" LCD
- 20" LCD
- 23" LCD
- 26" LCD
- 30" LCD
- 32" LCD
- 42" plasma
- 50" plasma
This means that coverage of each category happens approximately every three months.
The choice of models to be included in dynamic focus is based on the number of advertised
prices found. We count the number of prices found for each model and this number is what we
call PageShare. We calculate the PageShare by country and over all the countries included.
The units with the most quotes, either in a particular country or overall, are the ones
which appear in Dynamic Focus. There are no other criteria. If you'd like to see your
products covered, get more dealers to advertise them!
All prices have had the VAT removed so that a fair comparison can be made in dollars.
If you require more detail than that included in Dynamic Focus for the above categories, or
details for CRT monitors or other categories of LCD monitors and TVs, we
have a service called DisplayCast. Pricing for all models over the whole of Europe as well
as sales data, media coverage, news and analysis is available to
DisplayCast Monitor or DisplayCast Advanced TV customers.
